Welcome to the 2010 Season of Atlee LL Challenger baseball. Since 1968, Atlee Little League has been an all volunteer organization and added Challenger baseball in 2008. Challenger baseball gives the opportunity for boys and girls with mental and/or physical disabilities, between the age of 5 and completion of high school, to play a team sport in a structured, organized environment. Challenger baseball is a positive experience for players because each boy and girl fields and bats each inning. No score is kept, no player is called out, and everyone wins. Through the help of sponsors and the support of Atlee LL, there will be no cost to the players or their families for the Challenger Division.
Who: Teams will be set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 10-15 players on a team. The Challenger players will wear baseball uniforms, hats and safety equipment, as all other Atlee LL players. Our Challenger baseball players will compete with other Challenger Little Leagues in the Richmond Metro area.
When and Where: Regular season games will be played on Saturdays mornings from mid April through early June. Home games are played on Field 7 at Atlee LL from 9am until 10am. Away games will be played on Saturdays with times to be announced. District 5 sponsors an all star celebration for all players at the end of the season and a date/time will be announced. Also, the league will also host an end of the season picnic celebration to present trophies to the players and thank all sponsors and volunteers.
Volunteers: Volunteers are always needed. Contact Bill Wilson at
or 368-0345 if you are interested in a richly rewarding volunteer opportunity.
Thank you for joining Challenger League baseball at Atlee. We hope that you and your son or daughter will enjoy the game of baseball enough to tell friends. New members are always welcome, and if you know of anyone that would like to play or volunteer, invite him or her to participate. Registration and volunteer opportunities are always open for Challenger!
